hotelkit Annual Review 2019

They say seven is a lucky number and it truly has been a very successful seventh hotelkit year. As 2019 draws to a close, we want to take a moment to look back at the most exciting achievements and the changes our company has seen this year.

The hotelkit team

Our team has tripled in size since 2017, bringing the number of hotelkit employees up to 65 from 40 in 2018 and just over 20 the year before that. In the month of November alone we were able to welcome 9 new team members! Our existing departments grew in size and we added 3 whole new departments, Product Management, HR and Cross-Selling,  to the company. We’re proud to say we are as international as ever with team members from as many as 15 countries, from A as in Austria to S as in Sri Lanka. With our wonderful hotelkit crew constantly growing, we decided to expand our office space from 450 m² to 650 m² by taking over half of the floor below.


We want to keep all those friendly faces happy and healthy. That is why this year we’ve introduced activities like a weekly yoga class, a vegetarian team lunch that gathers everyone around the table on Wednesdays (boss’s treat!) and a hotelkit buddy program to make it easier for new team members to navigate their first few weeks at hotelkit. We also organized a range of exciting team building activities, including a memorable overnight stay at a mountain cabin and canyoning in the Austrian Alps. These team events, the yearly hotelkit pilgrimage to Oktoberfest in Munich and our legendary Christmas Party are wonderful occasions that bring the office family together.


We care about our planet as much as we care about our team. In a world that is driven by ideals of profit and growth, we believe that these ideals must be compatible with our vision of a sustainable, fair future. Wherever possible, we compensate flights and choose trains and other eco-friendly modes of transportation over planes. We invest in regional produce and encourage team members to treat themselves to something healthy by providing free organic, locally sourced fruit and veg boxes. We also take the opportunity to give back to the community by participating in projects such as “Weihnachten im Schuhkarton”.

Our clients

In 2019, we celebrated a huge milestone: 1,000 clients of all shapes and sizes now rely on hotelkit. Over 50,000 hotel employees are simplifying their operations with the help of our software. The feedback we receive is incredible – we truly change the way hotel teams collaborate. Our client base stretches over 42 countries (and counting). We’re pleased to have independent hotels as well as big hotel chains and groups among our clients. The Radisson Hotel Group, Deutsche Hospitality, InterContinental, Moxy Hotels, Living Hotels, Krafft Gruppe, Hotel Sacher Salzburg & Vienna and Stanglwirt are just a few of the currently 1,200 happy hotelkit clients out there.


On another note, hotelkit’s little sister software, medikit, our communications solution for the healthcare sector is also not so little anymore. More than 100 medical practices, hospitals and healthcare organizations now use medikit.

Events

As is tradition, hotelkit participated in as many as 82 international events this year, 16 of those happened in November alone.  Definitive highlights include the ITB in Berlin, which has become our home turf of sorts, FITUR in Madrid, AICR Congress in London, and Food Hotel Tech in Paris. Our very own hotelcamp ALPS went into its fifth year in 2019 with over 70 participating hoteliers. 

Technological development & software usage

2019 saw our busy coding bees introduce further improvements to our hotelkit tools in order to better meet our clients’ needs. In March, we also launched hotelkit HOUSEKEEPING, a completely new product that digitizes all processes within a hotel’s housekeeping department. It can be fully integrated with our existing team collaboration solution, but also used as a stand-alone solution, and several hotels have already successfully implemented it. Furthermore, we achieved integration with the PMS Oracle and went live with that in October. Our developers racked up a whopping 200,000 new lines of code. hotelkit already boasts 22 interfaces with 19 more in the making. We’ve seen a total of 776,785 repairs, 228,802 guest requests recorded, 73,111 checklists in hotelkit and, luckily, no end in sight! Our software is now available in 21 different languages, with a fantastic multilingual support team to take care of our clients’ queries.

Bring on 2020!

With all the exciting things that happened in 2019, we can’t wait to see what 2020 has in store for hotelkit. We are currently in the process of relaunching our entire website and will give it a good face-lift to provide you with more information and a fancy new design. There are also some exciting new additions to hotelkit’s product range on the horizon, but we don’t want to give away too much about that just yet!
